In 2 Thessalonians, Paul commends the Thessalonians for making the changes that he requested.
People of this particular church were very concerned about the events surrounding the second coming of Christ, to the point that they were somewhat pre-occupied with the subject.
Paul explains some of the events that will occur before Jesus comes again, "The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders."
Paul further encourages believers there to work hard for their daily provision, in 3:7, "...We were not idle when we were with you, nor did we eat anyone's food without paying for it."
1 and 2 Thessalonians reminds us that we need not concern or worry ourselves too much about future events over which we have no control. In the present we need to work for our food and shelter and constantly check our own behavior and hearts to make sure we are in step with the Lord's will.
