In Deuteronomy we see Moses speak to God as though He and the Lord are great friends. He speaks about his concerns for the people, who continue to disobey in spite of harsh consequences. And, Moses passes on to the Israelites that God loves them dearly and wants only the best for them. The price for disobedience to God can be high. The benefit of obedience is to prosper in His love and blessings. Moses gets frustrated that the people don't see that. Moses reiterates the 10 commandments to the people. New laws and regulations are also implemented.
Moses lays hands on Joshua appointing him as new leader. Moses, great prophet, leader and law-giver who knew God as his friend, passes away in Moab.
