The second book of Chronicles begin with the details surrounding the building of Solomon's temple for the Lord. Solomon died after 40 years of service as Israel's king. For many years some good kings ruled, but even more evil kings ruled. Israel was divided. The King of Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar, conquered Jerusalem. Later, King Cyrus came to power in Persia. He gave the captured Israelites hope. He agreed to rebuild their temple in Jerusalem and relocate there if they chose to do so.
